ABOUT WOOLLY WEST END

Hi, my name’s Chloe and I’m the designer and maker behind Woolly West End.

I began crocheting over 10 years ago and made my first musical theatre character, Lin Manuel-Miranda as Hamilton, in 2017. Since then I’ve made and given away dozens of figures to performers across the country as a way of combining my love of creating, costumes and the actors into a celebration of theatre.

I’m always up for a challenge and have a passion for (or maybe it’s an obsession over) detailing.

Prices depend on the specific details of each character, below are estimates which should provide a guide for what you should expect when seeking a commission.

FAQS

Commissions are currently closed.

HOW CAN I ORDER A COMMISSION?

- Fill out the contact form at the end of this page with the following information, ensuring that the word COMMISSION is in the subject line:

  • Character name

  • Show – if it’s a specific revival/run please specify year and location

  • Actor’s Name

  • Costume – a brief description or indication of the scene it’s worn in is perfect

If you have a specific deadline for completion please include this as well.

RESPONSE RATE:

- Once I have received the commission information I will respond via email within the space of a week with any follow up questions, a request for reference images, and an estimated price.

HOW MUCH DOES A CHARACTER COST?

- The starting price for a single figure is £45 with the amount subject to increase based on hair type/style, costume elements and detailing.
- Upon receiving the commission details/images I will then provide the final cost.

- For sample prices please check the PRICES page.

HOW DO YOU TAKE PAYMENT?

- Payment is taken through PayPal and upon starting the commission you will be sent an invoice.

- Payment can be made in installments, provided full payment has been received prior to the figure being shipped.

IS THERE A DEPOSIT?

- A non-refundable deposit will be taken for all characters to cover materials, this is expected once I have sent the invoice and confirmed that the product is underway.

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?

- All parcels are sent 1st Class Signed For and cost £4.50 within the UK.
- International shipping costs more and will be sorted during the commissioning process.

- If you want tracked shipping this can be arranged as a slightly higher cost.

HOW LONG DOES A CHARACTER TAKE?

- Depending on the complexity of a character’s costume and my university workload the timeframe can vary from a week to over a month, the more detailed the longer it will take.

- Upon receiving the commission details/images I will then provide an estimated time frame - the standard is 3 weeks from when I notify that the figure has been started

WHAT WILL YOU MAKE?

- Whilst I mostly make musical theatre characters, I am open to commissions from all types of media and will also do custom portraits of family members/friends etc.
- Each request will be considered on an individual basis and it is not guaranteed that I will accept the commission.
- Some projects may require additional testing time to determine if they are feasible.

CAN I CUSTOMISE MY FIGURE?

- Yes. You will need to provide specific details of how you wish to customise it, but if I can work out a way of making it happen I will.
- This includes changing colours, hairstyles, adding tattoos and creating additional accessories.

HOW LARGE IS THE AVERAGE FIGURE?

- Figures are approximately 6inchs/15cm tall however since each one is unique and handmade this will vary. Characters with high heels and/or updos will be taller.

FINAL THINGS

It is not recommended that these figures are treated as toys or given to small children.

Non-smoker with two cats so there is a very small risk of cat hair.
